The meaning of wearing necklace

In ancient times, both men and women (usually royalty) wore necklaces, which were most often buried with the dead.

Greek artifacts include pendants or amulets which mythology tells us has significant purposes of personal protection and acknowledgement of the Gods. Greek men, however, rarely wore any jewelry other than a ring or gold wreath, for fear of seeming lady-like.

Roman history includes the introduction of gold to the craft of jewelry making after conquering the Orient nearly 2,500 years ago. Yet at one point in Roman history, wearing too much gold was seen as an unacceptable flaunting of your luxuries. Though the products and methods used to create necklaces have changed through the years, it seems that people have always shown others their elevated social status, or proclaimed religious beliefs by wearing the appropriate necklaces. Today, the array of necklaces available is so diverse . from crafts made by children at summer camps to fine jewelry made of precious metals and gemstones. When choosing a new necklace, know that the options are endless.
